What’s new in Microsoft 365?

We're still learning how to properly negotiate the change as hybrid work moves from "new" to "the new normal." One thing is certain: hybrid work is all about flexibility.

We're allowing employees to participate and be productive from anywhere, on any device, at any time by launching new technologies like Windows 11, which will be released on October 5, 2021.

Deliver more inclusive meetings for everyone

We announced a number of new Teams features earlier this month to help businesses prepare their physical office spaces for hybrid work, make remote meetings as successful as in-person meetings, and keep workers in the flow of work.

Microsoft Viva Topics integration between Microsoft Yammer and Microsoft Viva is now available, as well as increased support for live captioning and transcripts.

🟫 Turn on more languages' live captioning and transcripts: Real-time captioning and live transcripts are now available for meetings occurring in one of the supported languages. To mention a few, we have added 27 more spoken languages, including German, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, and Hindi. Mobile users will be able to see captions in the supported languages, while desktop users will have the option to change the spoken language. This gives your attendees more freedom and clarity as they participate in the meeting. Customers may access this via the More Actions option in a Teams Meeting on the desktop app.

🟫 Discover knowledge using Yammer and Viva's Topics integration: To make community-sourced information easily available throughout an enterprise and promote a uniform experience in Microsoft 365, Yammer is integrating with and using Viva Topics. Topics will now relate to the same item in Yammer, Viva, and other Microsoft 365 apps thanks to this new connection. Users will view Viva Topics experiences, such as Viva Topic cards, enriched with material from Yammer, and Viva Topics experiences, such as pages and cards, will contain content from Yammer, such as questions and answers and discussions. Download the Yammer Topic API Changes documentation to get started.

Create more vivid diagrams and co-author encrypted documents.

🟪 Co-author in encrypted documents in Microsoft 365 Apps: In 2019, we brought sensitivity labeling functionality to OneDrive and SharePoint, allowing labeled and encrypted documents to be read, modified, and AutoSaved for the first time in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on the web. We're expanding co-authoring and AutoSave to Microsoft 365 applications on the desktop for Windows and macOS this month. Across the online and desktop apps, several individuals may now co-author Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents concurrently, frictionlessly, with auto-save, while preserving sensitivity labeling and document safeguards. This functionality improves an organization's capacity to safeguard sensitive data while allowing individuals to be more productive while working remotely.

🟪 Custom colors in Visio for the web can help you expand your color palette: Theme Colors, Standard Colors, and the ability to modify the transparency of objects in their diagram were the only options available to web users until recently. You may now easily access recently used colors in your diagram or pick from a complete spectrum of colors with the inclusion of Recent Colors and More Colors. On further information, see the documentation for Recent Colors and More Colors.

Ensure your employees can be productive from day one

We're introducing new features this month to help you be ready for your staff to use new versions of Windows, Apple iOS, and macOS.

🟦 Endpoint analytics can help you figure out if your device is ready for Windows 11: With the introduction of Windows 11 approaching, you'll want to know which of your devices are ready to update. Microsoft Endpoint Manager's Endpoint Analytics service now includes a new Windows metric that allows you to count the number of devices running earlier versions of Windows and then recommends actions to upgrade your Windows OS version.

Overall happiness and productivity are heavily influenced by the digital employee experience. Our Endpoint Analytics service offers your company with actionable data and insights for assessing the performance and health of various endpoints managed by Microsoft Endpoint Manager, as well as for analyzing the quality of your users' experience. Learn more about Endpoint Analytics and how the new features may help you evaluate the digital employee experience.

🟦 On launch day, use Endpoint Manager to manage iOS 15 and macOS 12: At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2021, Apple revealed numerous improvements to iOS 15 and macOS 12. We revealed earlier this month that Microsoft Endpoint Manager will be able to handle many of your endpoint management needs on day one of the latest versions of Apple's operating system, allowing you to keep your endpoints secure and corporate data safe. Learn more about these and other new iOS, iPadOS, and macOS endpoint management features that may help employees on the front lines and in hybrid work settings. These upgrades are now being sent out in conjunction with the introduction of the new Apple operating system and will continue until Endpoint Manager is released in October 2021.
