Are you still using Internet Explorer 11 for any reason? If that's the case, we've got some terrible news for you. Microsoft has announced that as of August 17, Microsoft 365 services would no longer support Internet Explorer 11. This is part of Microsoft's goal to phase out the browser.
If you're concerned about this, Microsoft has updated its advice on the subject. Anyone using Microsoft 365 apps in Internet Explorer 11 may encounter a reduced experience or be unable to connect to certain apps and services, according to the firm.
Users should not anticipate new features and should expect the overall experience to deteriorate over time until the applications and services are unplugged. Support for issues related to this will also be unavailable. However, as Microsoft notes below, certain programs may still run.
🔹Beginning August 17, 2021, people coming in with AAD accounts will continue to enjoy the full OWA experience but will no longer acquire new features, whilst users checking in with Microsoft Accounts (MSA) will be diverted to the Outlook Web App Light experience.
🔹 Open with Explorer/View in File Explorer (SharePoint): We recognize that certain customers may prefer to browse document libraries using Open with Explorer and View in File Explorer (only available in IE11). To prevent any inconvenience, these clients will be able to utilize these capabilities in IE11's document library for the time being. These features are still in maintenance mode and will not be developed further. For a better user experience and simpler access to data, we recommend that all users switch to a contemporary browser and use OneDrive sync. 🔹 All other applications and services will be phased out over the course of weeks and months to guarantee a seamless termination of support, with each app and service fading out on its own timetable.
🔹 Because Internet Explorer 11 is being phased out, using Microsoft Edge is the most convenient way to continue using Microsoft 365 services. Microsoft Edge includes an Internet Explorer mode that works with some old websites, plus it is updated more regularly with beneficial features like as Vertical Tabs, Sleeping Tabs, and more.
